The Problem

The IPIE needed to bring together two research panels from across the UK, Europe, America, Africa, Latin America and Asia for their first in person working sessions, in a location that could support a multi day international event, including accommodation, panel sessions, catering and cultural programming for a truly global guest list.

My Role

I managed COP1 end to end, coordinating with local stakeholders in Cape Town on logistics, operations, catering, photography and conference merchandise, including branded lanyards, tote bags and leaflets. The four day programme included a drinks reception, a gala dinner at the aquarium, two days of panel sessions and internal workshops, and a post conference group safari.

The Solution

By coordinating every element locally, from catering through to merchandise and cultural programming, the conference gave two research panels a genuinely productive in person setting to work on upcoming outputs together, while giving international guests a well organised and memorable experience from arrival to departure.

Outcome

COP1 successfully brought together researchers from across five continents for IPIE's first in person Conference of Panels, combining substantive panel work with a gala dinner and safari that gave the global cohort a strong shared experience and a solid foundation for future in person gatherings.
